Smith joined Davenport in March 2022, bringing a varied background with a particular focus on finance. Prior to joining the firm, Smith held various positions including: Sector Specialist in the Consumer, Retail and Business Services practice at Daybreak Capital Partners, a boutique investment bank; Director of Capital Development for Sixup, a venture-backed, Silicon Valley fin-tech startup; co-founder and Managing Partner of Waterfall Capital Partners; co-founder and President of JW Sieg Wines, a wine distribution company. Smith was an Equity Research Analyst with CIBC World Markets, covering the Specialty Apparel Retail Sector. Following this, he moved into industry and built his own critically-acclaimed fashion label and launched a London-based, private-label fashion brand for Saks Fifth Avenue.
Smith earned a BA in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After graduating, he attained his CPA license while working for KPMG in New York. He is Series 7 and 66 registered with FINRA.
In his free time, Smith enjoys spending time with his children, being on the water, and cooking.
