Ryan D. Shumate Financial Advisor

Ryan joined Davenport in 2019 bringing 15 years of healthcare & technology business management experience. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Vice President with Change Healthcare, where his responsibilities included partnership business development, strategy execution, and ongoing client success.  Before Change Healthcare, he held leadership positions in several private equity-backed healthcare technology firms, demonstrating a strong track record of building highly effective teams and executing strategic growth initiatives. Ryan believes his extensive business background provides a unique perspective for clients and a strong foundation for approaching wealth management with a holistic, strategic, and client-focused mindset.

Ryan graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BA in Political Science and Government. He is Series 7 and 66 registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and is licensed to sell annuities, life, and health insurance. Away from the office, he enjoys spending time on the water at the family river cottage on the Northern Neck with his lovely wife, Allison, and their two young boys, Michael and Thomas.

Livi joined Davenport in March 2024. Prior to joining Davenport, she worked at Vaught, Spangler & Associates. Her passion for making a difference in the lives of others makes her a wonderful addition to Ryan Shumate’s business. Livi was born and raised in Chesterfield County. She graduated from Mars Hill University with a Business degree in Finance and Economics and a concentration in Management. While attending Mars Hill University, she tutored “Principles of Finance” and became a Supplemental Instructor where she assisted college professors teaching this subject. She is Series 7, 63 and 65 registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and is licensed to sell long term care, annuities, life and health insurance.

Outside of work, Livi likes to engage her competitive spirit by playing volleyball at Richmond Volleyball Club. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, being active, volunteering, and spending quality time with her family, friends, and cat Mitzi.
