Mercadante Riggan Wealth Management

A 30-year veteran of the securities industry, Janet works closely with her clients and is wholeheartedly committed to their financial success. Janet started her financial career in 1990 at IDS Financial Services (now Ameriprise Financial, Inc.). Prior to joining Davenport, she worked for Truist, formerly BB&T Securities, for four years, and at Wells Fargo Advisors for 19 years.

Janet graduated with a B.A. in Economics and French from the University of Rochester. She has been a guest lecturer in personal finance at both Old Dominion University and Christopher Newport University. She served as a speaker and panelist at Senator Mark Warner’s Virginia Women’s Conference. As an active member of the community, Janet serves on the board of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, and on their Women’s Cabinet. She also serves on the board for Girls on the Run Hampton Roads, which has fun, evidence-based programs that inspire all girls to build their confidence, kindness, and decision making skills.

Janet enjoys being active in the community, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Ben has more than 30 years of experience in the finance and securities industry. Prior to joining Davenport, he worked at Truist, formerly BB&T Securities. Before becoming a Financial Advisor, Ben worked as a Financial Analyst with Vail Resorts in Breckenridge, CO, and was an acquisitions analyst with Winston Hotels, a real estate investment trust based in Raleigh, NC.

Ben earned a Bachelor’s in Finance from East Carolina University. He and his wife, Emily, have two sons and live in Virginia Beach. In his free time, Ben enjoys traveling, being outdoors, playing guitar, golfing and spending time with his family.

A native of Pittsburgh, Barbara moved to the Tidewater area in January 2015. She decided to pursue a career in the financial services industry in 2003 after a 23-year career with United Parcel Service as a sales manager. Barbara focuses on providing excellent client service, developing long-term relationships, and providing operational and administrative support to the Mercadante Riggan Wealth Management team.

Barbara earned her bachelor’s degree from LaRoche University in 1999. She resides in Virginia Beach and enjoys kayaking in the Chesapeake Bay in her spare time. She has one daughter, Megan, who is a U.S. Navy veteran.
