John W. Rader, Jr.
Senior Vice President—Investments
 
John has more than 30 years of experience in the investment advisory industry. After attending the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, he began his career with Wheat First Securities, and went on to help establish the Roanoke office of Salomon Smith Barney in 2000. In 2010, John founded Valley Investment Management where he practiced until moving to Davenport & Company. Throughout his career, he has helped individuals, families, local businesses and foundations meet their financial planning and investment needs. He is Series 7, 63, 65 and 24 registered and is licensed to sell life insurance.

John is active in his community of Botetourt where he was born and raised. He has served on the boards of the Botetourt Historical Society, the Troutville Church of the Brethren, and the Red Cross. He is currently appointed to the Botetourt County Electoral Board and a Director of The Bank of Fincastle. John also devotes his time to The University of Virginia, serving as treasurer of the University’s Club of the Roanoke Valley and is the Regional Selection Committee Chair of the Jefferson Scholar Program. He is a former member of the University’s Athletic Foundation and Annual Fund board.


William J. “Billy” Hendrickson
Vice President—Investments 

Billy began his career in 2003 as an intern in the Roanoke office of Salomon Smith Barney. He attended both The University of Tennessee, and William and Mary’s Mason School of Business, where he earned his MBA. He previously worked as managing director at Valley Capital Partners, where he served his clients’ estate planning needs, working with Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse. In 2010, he helped form Valley Investment Management to focus on investment strategies for clients. Billy is Series 7, 65 and 66 registered and is licensed to sell life insurance.

Billy has served on the board of The Roanoke Valley Speech and Hearing Center and Ducks Unlimited, and was previously an active member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Roanoke. In his free time, he enjoys sports and traveling with his wife, Kathleen, and two sons. He coaches youth sports, helps with Project Healing Waters, and works with several local charities.   



The Valley Investment Management Group is registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) to offer securities services to clients who reside in California, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. They are licensed to offer insurance products to residents in Virginia.
