Robert has over 30 years of experience in the securities industry. After earning a BA degree from Hampden-Sydney College, he worked professionally as a District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America. Robert began his career in the securities industry in 1986 when he joined Wheat, First Securities as a Financial Consultant. After completing the firm’s Professional Development Program and their Financial Planning Consultant Program, he was promoted to Investment Officer. In 1996, Robert was presented an attractive opportunity to join the Roanoke office of Davenport & Company. Through a series of promotions, Robert rose to become a Senior Vice President. He earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor professional designations from the College for Financial Planning and regularly participates in financial planning continuing education courses.
Robert is very involved in the Roanoke community having served as President of the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke and the Roanoke Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning, Senior Warden and Treasurer for St. John’s Episcopal Church, and Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 17. Robert and his wife, Trudy, have two daughters and a son. In his spare time, Robert enjoys fly fishing and skeet shooting.
