MUTUAL FUND ASSOCIATE

OVERVIEW
Davenport is seeking a Mutual Fund Associate to join its Operations team.  This position is primarily responsible for the timely and accurate transfer of mutual funds between Davenport, other brokerage firms and mutual fund complexes for Davenport client accounts as well as weekly reporting and timely resolution of all outstanding transfers.  In addition, this position is responsible for monitoring a series of trade reports for potentially missed breakpoint/NAV opportunities and mutual fund trade errors.
 
Work is performed under moderate to general supervision, with the incumbent proceeding with recurring work on his/her own initiative.  Supervisory staff will assist with project guidance, situations not previously encountered, training purposes, or where new/revised regulations or procedures apply. 


RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Interaction between Davenport’s internal system, sales persons and fund companies
  • Contacting sales persons regarding items listed on the reports
  • Maintaining mutual fund breakpoint, eligibility and NAV information, as well as house holding data for individual accounts on the BETA system
  • Assisting with and implementation of projects and new services
  • Providing support and backup for money market transactions, cash management services, insured deposits and transfers between accounts and other broker dealers
  • Firm-managed mutual fund trading and mutual fund trade corrections as needed
  • Updating mutual fund information in our internal system
  • Providing solutions and rapid responses to various inquiries directed from the sales force
  • Performing other tasks as necessary that may not be stated in this summary
QUALIFICATIONS
  • College Degree and 3 years industry experience preferred
  • Series 7 licensed or desire, willingness, and aptitude to obtain within two years of hire date
  • Project management skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines with accurate results
  • Understanding of market exposure risk
  • Good communication skills
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Word, Excel, and Ultra Edit; SQL a plus
  • Ability to follow tasks through to accurate and timely completion with a minimum level of supervision
  • Knowledge of mutual fund trading, companies and trading regulations
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to learn and master computer programs that house customer data
