EQUITY TRADING ASSOCIATE

JOB SUMMARY
Davenport is seeking an Equity Trading Associate to join its Equity Trading team.  This full time, non-exempt position reports to the Head of Equity Trading and Chief Administrative Officer.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist and back up equity traders, as directed
  • Monitor and complete daily trade reviews and reporting, including operational and compliance filings, ensuring that policies and procedures, as documented, are followed; ensure files are processed and reported accurately, including OATS
  • Best execution monitoring and analysis to improve trading performance.Ensure compliance with all policies to review and approve existing and new trading counterparties
  • Set up and monitor trade routing, process cancel/rebills, monitor open orders, enter and process UIT orders
  • Reconcile inventory accounts and monitor UMA orders entered by portfolio managers and/or RRs through BETA trade functionality Basket & Block and MRT
  • Participate in development and testing of process and technology improvements
  • Collaborate with P&S and Settlements to improve business relationships and efficiency
  • Collaborate with Compliance to monitor new regulatory changes and update policies and processes as applicable
QUALIFICATIONS        
  • Bachelor’s degree, Series 7 & 57 (55) or is capable of passing such exams within 3 months of hire
  • 3-5 years financial services experience, preferably in trading and/or compliance trade support
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to evaluate and learn new systems and applications
  • Knowledge of Thomson Beta systems or Flex Trade/ColorPalette – (LAVA) trade order management system or ability to master upon employment
  • Understanding of the full life cycle of a trade is a must, along with a general understanding of the markets and market structure, as well as the willingness and aptitude to learn more
  • Demonstrated decision-making capabilities, logic, and good judgment
  • Candidate must have good people skills, be able to communicate effectively and be capable of operating in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong math aptitude, numerical and quantitative analysis skills
