In 1921, Coleman Wortham, Sr., a great-nephew of the original Charles Wortham, became president and bought a seat on the New York Stock Exchange. Davenport & Company persevered despite the stock market collapse in 1929 and the Great Depression that followed.
Although almost a century and a half have passed since Davenport & Company was established, the values and positive spirit that characterized the firm in the 1800’s live on today. Over the years, Davenport has continued to grow and now provides a wide range of investment brokerage and investment advisory services to its clients.
